Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a temporary full-time intern to join our office in the summer of 2020 (May through August). We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of and help support a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in performing hydrology and hydraulic studies; reinforced concrete design; geotechnical investigations and analyses
  • Preparing construction plans
  • Drafting reports
  • Performing construction observation and materials testing
  • Some travel may be required

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Rising junior, senior and graduate students are preferred
  • Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field is desirable but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work with direction as part of a team
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to learn
  • Desire and willingness to work outdoors
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle; mileage (excluding mileage for commute) will be reimbursed based on the allowable IRS rate for travel assignments
  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening
