Data Science Analyst

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Science Analyst to join our team in Chapel Hill, NC


This position touches all three major functions within DDG: Research & Analytics, Modeling, and list management. You help us turn raw data from surveys, our massive consumer databases, transactional data, and first-party data sources into business intelligence. No two days are alike; you’ll be working on different aspects of research, marketing science, and data science every day.

Job Responsibilities:
* Run descriptive and inferential statistics to feed marketing research analytics
* Populate marketing research PowerPoint reports manually or (preferred) through automated systems you help develop
* Perform quality control on marketing research deliverables including data files, models, and reports
* Assure that research reports fulfill proposal specifications
* Add value by suggesting modifications to existing analysis and/or additional analyses
* Execute selects, frequencies, and cross-tabs in statistical software (SPSS, SAS, JMP, R, etc.)
* Populate existing Tableau workbooks with fresh data, work toward creating new Tableau output from scratch
* QC and development of code schemes for marketing research data collection tasks
* Support the acquisition of new clients and management of existing clients by helping achieve revenue goals and by providing analysis and/or content for proposals
* Support marketing through blog posts and creation of other marketing content
* Identify new sources of data and methods to support development of data products and enhance data analysis
* Fully understand the structure and contents of decisionPointsTM file, both layout and metadata
* Execute accurate selects and views in SQL
* Develop an understanding of how to operate DDG’s cloud-based modeling tool as well as our powerful offline modeling applications
* Be able to wrangle first-party data from our clients into a form usable by our analytics and modeling applications
* Coordinate acquisition of client data files and coordinate merging tasks with decisionPointsTM or other data
* Learn the systems that enable you to run counts from our database based on specific select criteria
* Use these systems to actually create lists of marketing targets, upload them to secure client sites, generate invoices, and troubleshoot orders

Our Ideal Candidate:
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred: BS degree in a quantitative discipline, including STEM or computer science concentrations)
* 2 – 3 years in a quantitative/data-oriented work environment
* Proven ability to learn technical software applications (preferred: direct experience with SPSS, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, or other analytics software)
