Electrical Engineer I (PCB)

You will help Artis develop new generations of sensing and active defense technologies in a fast paced and exciting environment. As part of a small and dedicated team, you will be given immediate responsibility for designing and analyzing complex electrical systems. Typical day to day work is done using Altium for design, along with analysis tools like Excel and MATLAB.
As an EE I/II you will be given design requirements and, with mentorship, are expected to complete the design with periodic reviews. You will also be expected to fully document, prototype, and test/qualify your design. Design and system testing occur at internal Artis facilities, at test facilities, and test ranges around the country so some travel is required.

- Schematic capture and board design experience with at least 4 layer designs (Altium preferred)
- Familiarity with basic board design concepts
- Soldering both through hold and surface mount components down to 0805
- Understanding of basic digital communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, RS232
- Use of meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electronics test equipment
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Familiar with board design concerns such as high-speed routing and low noise circuits
- Analysis of circuits using SPICE simulations
- Familiar with MIL-STDs and designing for military and industrial environments
- Familiar with Xilinx FPGAs
- Optical sensors such as avalanche photodiodes, focal plane arrays, high speed cameras, and high-speed high-gain analog signal conditioning
- Digital communication interfaces such as RS485, CAN bus, LIN, LVDS, ethernet, PCIe
- Familiar with at least 1 microcontroller
- Cable and harness design
- Test equipment design and programming
- NI LabView
- Visual Studio C# and C++
- Additional Microsoft tools including Visio and Access
- VHDL or Verilog
This position works in an office environment 75% of the time, with remaining time spent in lab areas and indoor and outdoor testing areas.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with some flexibility.
The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance on a ladder at heights up to 10 ft. The employee will be required to work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions. The employee will be required to occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Typical travel is limited to approximately 12% per year. Some years travel may be required up to 30% at times with short periods of 50% travel (over the course of 3 months).
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering with up to five years’ experience.
